About Tourmaline
Tourmaline is a crystalline boron silicate mineral compounded with elements such as aluminium, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, or potassium. It is classified as a semi-precious stone and the gemstone comes in a wide variety of colors. The term “tura mali” is from Sri Lanka (Ceylon), which translates to “stone of mixed colors”. Elbaite was originally discovered on the island of Elba, Italy in 1913. As a gemstone, elbaite is a desirable member of the tourmaline group because of the variety and depth of its colors and quality of the crystals.
