About
"Crystal opal" is a term used for a transparent to translucent opal material that has a play of color within the stone. The internal structure of opal makes it diffract light. Depending on the conditions of its formation, it can take on many colors. The stone name opal comes from the Sanskrit word "upala" for stone, or precious stone.
